Integrity and innovation in our practices promotes company growth while also earning respect and trust. We hope to earn that not just from our customers but from all our fellow inhabitants of this planet – which is why we are committed to implementing sustainable technology and policies in our facilities. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our commitment to sustainable energy, and that has more than doubled in size since our move from Londonderry to our new headquarters in Bedford, NH.

We are proud to be of the few manufacturing companies to be ISO 14001 registered, with audited programs to reduce, reuse, remove, and recycle. Wire Belt’s Environmental Management System (EMS) Committee drives continuous improvement in our environmental performance and ensures ongoing compliance with ISO 14001 standards.

Our Net Zero Energy Goal:

Wire Belt’s most significant impact to the environment is electric usage. Therefore, we are committed to a net zero energy goal.

Sustainable Energy

  • 2,455 individual solar panels
  • Projected annual output: 1.328 GWh (328,000 kWh)
  • That’s enough energy to power approximately 125 American homes each year!

Today, our Bedford facility produces 85% of its own energy, with a clear path toward 100%. Our facilities in the UK and Germany are also solar-powered, reducing our footprint internationally.

When we relocated from Londonderry, NH, we left behind 1,042 solar panels that ReVision Energy installed on the roof of our previous building, allowing the new tenants to continue benefitting from renewable energy. Each year, the system in Londonderry will generate roughly 289,933 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity, offsetting the equivalent of driving over 528,856 miles – over 21 times around the world – in a gas-powered car!

Other Initiatives

Recycling

We recycle 100% of the scrap generated during conveyor belt manufacturing, carefully sorting all metal types and ensuring they’re processed responsibly. We’ve maintained this practice for more than 25 years. Recycled stainless steel can be used to create a wide range of products, including travel mugs, jewelry, and glasses frames.

Spill Prevention

We maintain strict spill prevention controls and provide ongoing employee training to protect groundwater and the surrounding environment. These measures reduce risk, support regulatory compliance, and reinforce our commitment to responsible environmental stewardship.

Vehicles

All company vehicles are Toyota RAV4 hybrids, delivering an estimated 40 MPG to help reduce fuel use and emissions from travel. We also offer onsite EV charging to support employees who drive electric vehicles.

Employee Garden

Our employee-managed garden supports biodiversity, improves air quality, and provides access to sustainable, organic food grown onsite. It also gives employees the opportunity to garden even if they don’t have space to do so at home. Wire Belt has supported employee gardens for more than a decade, continuing this tradition from our previous location to our new facility.
